Website care and maintenance

Websites tend to be built once and then forgotten, until the morning a form stops working, the certificate expires and browsers show a warning, or a plugin flaw lets someone inject strange links into your pages. Imagine a hypothetical boat charter company in Muğla that takes almost all its bookings in the few months before the season. In early April the booking form breaks silently after an automatic plugin update, and nobody notices. Only two weeks later does the firm realise why enquiries dried up during its busiest period. Regular maintenance exists to catch silent failures like this before anyone else does: controlled updates, tested backups and routine checks that the site really works.

Controlled updates
staging first, production second
Off-site backups
kept apart from the web server
Continuous monitoring
uptime, form and certificate checks
Monthly report
what was done and what needs attention

What the work covers in practice

The care agreement is defined up front. After reviewing the site's condition, we set out in writing the monthly tasks and the time reserved for small changes.

Agree the scope with the engineer who will do the work

Core, theme and plugin updates

Updates are applied to a copy of the site first, key pages and forms are checked, and only then do they reach production. Critical security fixes are applied without waiting.

Backups and restore tests

Daily file and database backups are kept away from the hosting server, for example in object storage in the EU. We regularly prove that a backup can actually be restored.

Availability and function checks

The site is checked from outside every few minutes. Does the home page load, does the form submit, does checkout work? Alerts reach us first and you when needed.

SSL, domain and email settings

Certificate and domain renewal dates are tracked. SPF, DKIM and DMARC records are checked so that form emails do not end up in spam.

Security checks

Reviewing admin accounts, removing unused plugins and users, file integrity scans and watching for suspicious login attempts.

Small changes

Text, images, a new page or an extra form field are handled within the monthly time allowance. Requests arrive by email or ticket and are logged.

How we approach the job, from first call to handover

Before taking a site into care we review its condition. Only then is it clear what a month of maintenance really involves.

01

Initial review

Versions, plugins, licences, access, backup status and known problems are listed. Urgent risks are fixed separately before regular care begins.

02

Tidy up access

Admin and hosting logins are recreated in your company's name with personal accounts. Shared passwords and former staff accounts are closed.

03

Monthly cycle

Updates, restore tests, security checks and small changes follow the agreed schedule.

04

Report and advice

At month end you get a short report on what was updated, which alerts came in, how much time was used and what to keep an eye on.

Switching on automatic updates is not the same as maintaining a site. Auto-updates help security, but when a plugin change breaks the form, checkout or layout, nobody notices. The real value of maintenance is someone confirming after each update that the site still does its most important jobs. We handle that check partly with automated tests and partly by hand.

Frequently asked questions

Yes, that is the most common case. The initial review covers structure, theme, plugins and any custom code. If something makes maintenance difficult or risky, we say so and propose a fix.

No. WordPress is the most common, but we also look after sites built with Laravel or other PHP frameworks, static sites and headless CMS set-ups. On hosted store platforms the vendor handles updates, so care focuses on content and integration checks.

No. If your current hosting is adequate, we work with it. If not, we recommend a new server opened in your company's name with a provider in Turkey or the EU and plan the move.

When a request would exceed the allowance, we first give you an estimate and wait for approval. Extra time is billed at €55 per hour plus VAT. Larger changes get a separate quote.
