Consider a ten-person architecture studio in Avcılar, İstanbul. Years of project archives, permit files and Autodesk drawings live on a NAS. A conscientious colleague even arranged for that NAS to copy itself every night to a second NAS, which sits on the same shelf a metre away. Against a failed disk, that works. Against an earthquake, a fire, water from the floor above, a break-in or ransomware that encrypts every device on the network in one night, both boxes share the same fate. For a backup to protect you, at least one copy has to live somewhere else, out of reach of your own network. Our cloud backup service places that copy in a data centre in Turkey or the EU. Encryption happens on your side before anything is sent, a lock stops backups being erased for the period you choose, and the storage contract is signed by your company. Regular, logged recovery drills show that the copy genuinely comes back.
A cloud copy complements local backup rather than replacing it. Local backup is the fast route back; the off-site copy is what remains if the building is gone. The scope includes the items below.
A data centre in Turkey, European providers such as Hetzner, OVHcloud or IONOS, or EU regions of Azure and AWS. Holding a backup containing personal data abroad may count as a cross-border transfer under KVKK. You assess that with your data protection lead before choosing, and we supply the technical facts.
Your company owns the storage subscription and pays the provider itself. Our access is restricted to the rights required for day-to-day operation. If one day you replace us with another IT firm, nothing needs to be moved.
Files are scrambled on your own systems before transfer, so nobody, the provider included, can read it without the key. Where the key is kept is documented and checked during every drill.
With Object Lock on S3-compatible storage, backups cannot be deleted or changed for the chosen period, even by someone holding stolen admin passwords. Lock periods are aligned with your legal retention duties and with KVKK destruction obligations.
Upload speeds on most business lines are far lower than download speeds. So the first complete copy trickles out over several evenings and a weekend or two; afterwards, only what has changed is sent.
Besides storage, we account for request charges and the separate download fees some providers apply, so that pulling everything back in an emergency does not trigger a surprise bill.
If the office becomes unusable, critical systems can start as virtual machines at the provider while the team keeps working from home or another location for a while.
Configuration is a job of several days. The time the initial upload will need is worked out beforehand from how much data you hold and how fast your line uploads.
Data size, retention tiers and line speed give us two numbers: what storage will cost each month and how many hours the initial transfer will run.

Lose the encryption key and you lose the backup. The strength of encrypting at source is that no one can read the data without the key. The flip side is that neither can you, if the key goes missing. The commonest mistake is keeping the key only on the server being backed up: once ransomware encrypts that server, the key goes with it. We therefore store the key in at least two separate places, for example the company password vault and a sealed envelope that management can reach. Every drill also confirms that the key can be found and still works.
Backups containing personal data stored in a foreign data centre may fall under the KVKK rules on cross-border transfer, which can require tools such as standard contractual clauses. To keep the decision simple, a data centre in Turkey is offered as an option too. The legal assessment rests with you and your adviser; we prepare the technical details on provider location, encryption and access.
What matters is the upload figure on your line. For instance, 1 TB at 50 Mbps of upload takes around two days of continuous transfer. Once the first upload is complete, only changes are sent, typically a handful of gigabytes per normal working day. Before starting, we do this arithmetic using your actual numbers.
Download speed decides it. 1 TB comes down in roughly eleven hours over a 200 Mbps line, after which services need starting. Individual files are restored from the local backup; a full cloud restore is for situations such as losing the building or every local copy.
Nothing at all. The storage account and its contract are in your company's name and the key is yours. Documentation and credentials pass to your new provider, who simply picks up where we left off.
Storage is invoiced to you by the provider itself; we forecast that figure up front from how much you store and for how long. Our configuration and running work is charged at €55 per hour plus VAT, or falls within the Start, Business or Premium plans.
